Born Sept. 22, 1922, he grew up in Orland, Ind. He served in the South Pacific during World War II and was a founding member of American Legion Post 423 in Orland. He began a 50-year career with Douglas Manufacturing Company in Bronson, Mich., and was transferred to Walnut Ridge in 1971, where he helped establish a new manufacturing plant. He moved to the Cleveland Wood division of Scott & Fetzer in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1982. He retired in Cleveland in 1989.
