Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the LaPoint Funeral Home, Ottawa. The Rev. Rick Nieberding officiated. Burial will be in Sts Peter and Paul Cemetery.
She was born October 1, 1913, in Putnam County, to Earl and Ruby (Folk) Shaffer. She married Alphonse Lanwehr on February 23, 1949, and he survives. Also surviving is a sister, Marjorie Mertz, Fremont, Indiana.
Mrs. Lanwehr was the director of the Putnam County welfare department for twenty three years, retiring five years ago. Prior to her welfare department work, she was administrator of the Putnam County School for Retarded Children. She also had been a teacher in the Leipsic and Willard school systems.
Mrs. Lanwehr was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the American Legion, VFW and Eagles auxiliaries, all in Ottawa.
