S. E. Collins Dies Friday

Stanley Erwin Collins, 921 South Barker, retired Rock Island railroad conductor died in Park View hospital early Friday following an Illness of several months.

Mr. Collins was born June 18, 1888, to John M. Collins and Mary E. (Mottwiler) Collins at Corsicana, Tex. He came to Oklahoma in 1901 and lived at Hobart, Mountain View, and Chickasha, before coming to El Reno in 1917. He later spent 11 years at Caldwell, Kan.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, was a past president of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Conductors and Brakemen, serving the latter group as legislative representative at one time.

Survivor include his wife, Hazel, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Christy, 815 South Roberts, Mrs. J. G. Welch, Oklahoma City, and Mrs. L. D. Thomas. Jr., Tulsa, seven grandchildren, Stanley M. and David H. Christy, 815 South Roberts, Mrs. Norman Lee Thompson and Chuck Welch, both of Oklahoma City, John, Susan and Timothy Thomas, all of Tulsa; and two great-grandsons.

Funeral services were held at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian church with Dr. W. McFerrin Stowe, pastor of St. Luke's Methodist church, Oklahoma City, and the Rev. George C. Bradford, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in the El Reno cemetery under direction of the Wilson funeral home.
