She was born August 14, 1917 in Cantrill, Iowa, the daughter of George and Elma White Linn. On December 31, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to Glenn J. Burgess in Kahoka, MO. he preceded her in death on November, 18, 1996.
She graduated from Keosauqua High School in Keosauqua, IA with the class of 1937. In 1939 Ruth moved to Keokuk IA where she made her home.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA.
Ruth was a devoted homemaker and had a lovingly cares for her family. She also assisted her husband working on the farm.
Ruth was an avid bowler and bowled with club 55 Bowling League untill 2004. She enjoyedgardening and reading. She loved musicand enjoyed playing the piano and French harp. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
She is surived by three daughters, Sharon Munsom and her husband J.R. of Hamilton, IL. Rosanne Sadeghi of Keokuk, IA.and Chirstins (Chris) Kellum and her husband Kevin of Keokuk IA. one son Ronald Burgess and his wife Dee of East Peoria, IL, twenty one grandchildren, twenty-four grate-grandchildren,eight grate-grate grandchildren, one nephew whom she raised, Gary Burgess and his wife Julie of Carthage, IL and Garys three children, whom she thought of as her own grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter Patricia "Pat" Hultquist three grandchildren three grate-grandchildren, three brothers, Harley, Clarence and Ward Linn, two sisters, Mable Gilcrest and Leona Blackburm and one nephew whom she raised, Albert Burgess.
Graveside services were held at 2:30p.m. Tuesday December 27, 2011 at the Keokuk National Cemetery with the Reverend Alex Klosterl III.
