Gen. William Taylor Madison was born & died at Montpelier, Orange Co., VA; he was the son of Col. James Madison & Eleanor "Nellie" Rose Conway (both buried at Montpelier). He had the following siblings: PRESIDENT JAMES MADISON JR., Francis, Ambrose, Catlett (buried at Montpelier), Nellie, Sarah, Elizabeth (buried at Montpelier), Reuben, and Frances Taylor Madison.
William married (1) Frances Throckmorton on 20 Dec 1783, in Orange Co., VA; they had the following children: Rebecca Conway Madison Chapman; John Madison; Major Ambrose Madison; James Edwin Madison; Elizabeth Madison; Letitia Madison Slaughter; John Madison; Alfred Madison; Lucy Frances Madison; William F. "Billy" Madison, Jr.; Robert Lewis Madison.
He married (2) Nancy Jarrell in 1834; they had one son John R. "Jack" Madison.
