She was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Murray County Co, Minn., the daughter of Leo Emil and Lucile Georgson Kirsch. A graduate of Chase High School and a longtime Lyons resident, she was a homemaker and former window dresser at the J.C. Penney Store in Lyons.
She belonged, to St. Paul's Catholic Church and Altar Society, was a volunteer driver for Rice County Council on Aging, and was a Thrift Shop and Rice Co. Food Bank Volunteer all at Lyons, and belonged to Kansans for Life.
On Aug. 26, 1946, she married Robert Francis Young. He died Dec. 18,1967.
Survivors include: six sons, Robert J. and Terrance L., both Wichita, Michael G. and Lawrence E., both of Lyons, Richard A., El Campo, Texas, and Geoffrey W., Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Patricia L. Unruh, Lyons, Anne Marie Adkins, Wichita, and Mary Kay Houghton, McPherson; a sister, Betty Wood, Chase; 16 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Jerome; two brothers, LeRoy and Leo Melvin Kirsch; and a sister, Lucia Gaither.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Lyons, with Fathers James Hoagland and James Roth presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lyons Municipal Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Kansans for Life, in care of the funeral home.
