OBITUARIES
Arthur G. Jackson

Arthur G. Jackson, 86, well-known L.D.S. church worker of Mapleton, died Wednesday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Alice C. Johnson, of ailments incident to his age. He was born July 13, 1852, in Myrthur Tidwell, South Wales, a son of John and Janet Hughes Jackson. He married Mary Ellen Marshall, May 12, 1872, in Darlington, county of Durham, England. A few years after his marriage he joined the church and came to America, later sending for his wife and two small children. During his early life, he was employed as a locomotive engineer and at one time was a roller mill operator. He came to Utah in 1896, and has resided at Mapleton much of the time since. He was a faithful and active member of the L.D.S. church, doing much for missionaries when he lived at Chicago, Ill. He was a high priest at the time of his death. He is survived by a son and daughter, Mrs. Johnson of Mapleton, and William H. Jackson of Chicago, Ill.; also nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., in the Mapleton ward under the direction of Bishop Frank Jensen. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery. The body will be at the Claudin Funeral Home until Saturday morning and then at the home of the daughter at Mapleton.
