Truman Benjamin Plummer

1945- 2002

HOT SPRINGS - Truman Benjamin Plummer was born on Dec. 18, 1945, in Willows, Calif. He died Wednesday, July 17, 2002.

He moved to Alaska in 1957 and completed high school at Copper Valley High in Glennallen, Alaska. From 1960 to 1966 he pioneered a ranch in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska with his father and family. He completed flying school in 1966.

Truman entered the armed forces in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War, receiving medals for wounds he received while serving. He returned to the ranch where he remained until 1970. Later he managed a feed lot in Willows, CA and logged in Oregon.

In 1979 Truman moved to Hot Springs, MT to be near his parents, where he worked as a "jack-of-all-trades". Truman married Evelynn and adopted her daughter, Sheila and together they opened and operated the Hot Springs Mercantile. They were later divorced.

Truman graduated from Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, MT receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science in 1996. After graduating the study of Reptiles and Amphibians on the Flathead Reservation that he and others worked on was published in a national science journal.

He was a member of the Little Shell Tribe of Montana and served on its tribal council.

Truman married Julie Weber of Ronan, MT on May 10th 1996 in Coerd'Alene, ID. Their daughter, Catrina Plummer was born July 22, 1996 in Missoula, MT

Truman is survived by his wife Julie, his daughters Catrina Plummer and Sheila Plummer, his mother Hazel L. Plummer, brothers Gregory and George Plummer, sister Leora Plummer, half brothers Paul and George Litty and half sister Loise Eidam.

He was buried in Malta, Montana.
