GEORGE COLVIN EGNEW, age 85, of Wilmore formerly of Cynthiana, died Sunday, December 18, 2005, at Thomas Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. Born in Harrison County, April 17, 1920 to the late Frank and Gertrude Geoghegan Egnew, he was a retired supervisor for Kawneer Company and a WWII Navy veteran. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Brown Egnew; two sisters, Mildred Webber and Lucy Agnes Curtis and a daughter Linda Ray Childers.

He is survived by a daughter, Catherine (David) Cole, Lexington; a son, Ron (Peggy) Egnew, Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Ware Funeral Home by Rev. Erin Snelling. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Cole, Steven Childers, Randy Cole, Blake Childers, John Shary and Matt Egnew. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ray Brown. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
