KINSTON - Margaret Croom, 82, of 701 Owen Smith Drive, Kinston passed on to heaven on Friday, March 13, 2009, from Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Kinston, N.C. She was a member of Neuse Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hansley C. Carter and Mary Jane Harrison Carter; her brothers, Ivy Carter, Edward Hansley Carter and Floyd Carter; sisters, Sadie Watson and Laura Mae Croom; husband, David Lee Croom; sons, Neal Warren Croom and Rodolph Croom; daughters, Linda Sue Alawar and Margie Ann Heath Harrell. Funeral ser-vices will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday March 14, 2009, at Edwards Funeral Home with the Rever-end Greg Kincaid officiating. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. prior to the funeral service at Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Croom Cemetery on Hwy 55 West, Kinston at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2009. Survivors include her children, Lynwood Earl Croom, Dennis Ray Croom, Roy Preston Croom, Billy Lee Croom, David Daniel Croom, Randolph Croom, Mary Alice Howard and Betty Jean Cox. She also raised two special grandchildren, Margaret Masham West and Raylop Alawar. Many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special sisters-in-law, Sybil Croom, Ruby Hill, Mary Elizabeth Futrelle and Mattie Pearl Blair.
