Fannie Rebecca Bussard Ropp, 97, formerly of Middletown, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Homewood Retirement Center, Frederick, Md.

Born March 9, 1899, near Middletown, she was the daughter of the late N.A. Steck and Alta Culler Bussard.

Her first husband, John A. Ropp, died in 1923.

Her second husband, George P. Ropp, died in 1983. They were married for 57 years.

She was a lifelong member, and at the time of her death, the oldest living member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown. She taught Sunday school for several years in the junior department, and also was a member of the Gleaners Sunday school class.

She is survived by three daughters, Helen Remsburg of Jefferson, Md., Evelyn Brandenburg of Middletown, and Beverly Campbell of Albuquerque, N.M.; one son, M. Lee Ropp of Myersville, Md.; one brother, Maurice L. Bussard of Frederick; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Duvall; and one son, George Bernard Ropp.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and anytime Tuesday at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The family will receive friends today and Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends also may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
