He died at 4:25 p.m. Friday (July 18, 1997) at ManorCare in Normal where he had been living since October of 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Frances (Behrend) Dalton Anderson, Bloomington; two daughters, Bernice (Bob) Climpson and Sharon Sleeter, both of Gibson City; four sons, Willie (Edna Marie) Anderson, Lexington; Bob (Dorothy) Anderson, Gibson City; David (Sharon) Anderson and Edward (Teresa) Anderson, both of Towanda; four stepsons, Donald, Thomas, Gary and Dennis Dalton; one sister, Marjorie Brown, Lexington; 12 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Anderson was born Oct. 16, 1910, in Rogersville, Tenn., a son of James and Elizabeth Hickman Anderson. He married Bessie Coyle. He later married Donna Roberts and then married Frances Dalton on Feb. 16, 1973, in Dothan, Ala.
His parents Jim and Betty, one brother Albert, three sisters Ethel, Lena and Virga; and one great-granddaughter preceded him in death.
Mr. Anderson was the former owner/manager of Bill Anderson Trucking. From 1973 to 1992, he and Mrs. Frances owned and managed the Merna Tap. He attended Fairway Knolls Church of the Nazarene in Bloomington.
