Donald Ray Ussery of Porter, OK, age 81, a loving father, brother, grandfather and uncle, passed away Tuesday morning, June 19, 2012 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home. Donald was born on June 4, 1931 in Vian, OK and was the son of George Russell and Bonnie (Baker) Ussery. Donald attended school in Vian, OK. Donald served in the United States Army. Donald was united in marriage to Myrna J. Schauffler on August 14, 1956 in Coweta, OK and she preceded him in death on August 1, 2008. In 1968, he and Myrna moved to the Porter area from Broken Arrow, OK. Donald worked as an x-ray technician at Exam Corporation for over 25 years until he retired in 1994. Donald had previously worked in the oil field for 8 years. He was a member of Shahan Free Will Baptist Church. Donald enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, gardening, raising cattle and most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his two sons, Gary Ussery of Porter, OK and Melvin Russell Ussery and wife, Kellie, of Porter, OK; five brothers, Bobby Ussery of Miami, FL, Joe Ussery of Morris, OK, Jim Ussery of Ft. Gibson, OK, Larry Johnson of Morris, OK and Dick Ussery of San Jose, CA; two sisters, Virginia Ussery of Okmulgee, OK and Shirley Smith of Checotah, OK; two grandchildren, Steven Ussery and April Ann Ussery; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Donald was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one brother.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, June 21, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A graveside service for Donald is scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, June 22, 2012 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK with Rev. Lynn Moss officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Clint Jay, Curtis Jay, Steve Davis, Steve Lamberson, Hayden Jay and Caymen Davis.

The family of Donald Ray Ussery entrusted his care and service to Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home, 210 S. Broadway, Coweta, OK 74429, 918-486-5515.

Myrna June (Schauffler) Ussery, age 69, of Porter departed this life on late Friday evening, August 1, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Myrna was born on August 12, 1938 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Melvin and Lucille (Frazier) Schauffler. She attended Coweta Public Schools and graduated from Coweta High School in 1955. Myrna and Donald R. Ussery were united in marriage on August 14, 1956 in Coweta, Oklahoma. In 1968, she and Donald moved to Porter, Oklahoma from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.She was a cashier at First National Bank in Porter until she decided to retire. She was a member of the Shahan Free Will Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma. Myrna enjoyed cross stitching, watching birds, gardening, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.Left behind to cherish her memories is her husband of 51 years, Don of the home; her two sons, Gary Don Ussery of the home and Melvin Russell Ussery and his wife, Kellie, of Porter; her parents, Melvin and Lucille Schauffler of Coweta; her sister, Joyce E. Jay of Broken Arrow; her two grandchildren, April Ann Ussery and Steven Russell Ussery; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.She was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Davis.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. Lynn Moss officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home in Coweta.
