Bridget Generose McGovern Higdon, 75, of St. Lawrence, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012. She was born on Dec. 30, 1936, in Dukes, Hancock County, to the late James and Agnes McGovern. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Hawesville in 1956. She lived in Owensboro and was an employee of General Electric for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church for nearly 40 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Bridget (at birth) and a brother Bernard McGovern. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Joseph Harold Higdon; two daughters, Debora (Russell) Falkenburg and Diane (John) Hunter both of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Aaron Howard and Maya Hunter, and two step-grandchildren, Kailyn and Tyler Falkenburg. She is also survived by two brothers and eight sisters, Philip (Carolyn) McGovern of Owensboro and John (Roselie) McGovern of Filer, Idaho; Mary Young of Hawesville; Martha (Charles) Hamilton of Owensboro; Imogene (James) Quinn of Glendale, Arizona; Mildred McGovern SCN of Nazareth; Ann (Francis) Johnson of Evansville; Rita McGovern of Owensboro; Ruth (Wallace) Quinn of Maceo; and Marie Ratliff of Phoenix. She is also survived by 16 nieces and 13 nephews. Services are at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Pat Bittle officiating. Visitation starts at 9 a.m. and the service will follow at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012. Burial will be at St. Lawrence cemetery.
