Ms. Christine A. Underwood Tipton passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Clay County Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was a wonderful and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend. Christine was an avid gardener and homemaker, who loved God, family, friend and neighbor.
She was born to the late Vance and Iva Franks Underwood. Christine was preceded in death by her husband, William Roy Tipton in 1992; daughter, Cathy Tipton in 1994; grandson, Benjamin Barnard in 2010; a sister, Minnie Lou Murphy and brother Joe Underwood.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville with Mr. Martin Fannin officiating. Interment will be in the Union Hill Cemetery in Hayesville. Pallbearers will be Kurtis Tipton, Donald Tipton, Eddie Tipton, Joe Tipton, Alton Tipton and Trey Tipton.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rathbun Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
