Funeral service for Charlie Clay Childress, 60, retired farmer, who died at Blooming Grove Wednesday, were held Thursday from the Corley Funeral Chapel. Burial in Bardwell cemetery. The graveside rites were conducted by the Rankin Masonic lodge. Masons were pallbearers. The rites were conducted by Rev. A. J. Kirkland, pastor of the Missionary Baptist church. Childress resided in Ellis county before moving to Blooming Grove 18 years ago. He was a native of Alabama.
Surviving are his wife of Blooming Grove; four sons, J. O., C. C. Jr., and T. C. Childress all of Blooming Grove, and J. B. Childress, Ennis; two daughters, Mrs. R. C. Ward, Dallas, and Mrs. T. R. Collier, Blooming Grove; 9 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Forney Childress, Electra; Burk Childress, Bowie; Rufus Childress, Olney, and Corb Childress, Vernon, and a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Key, Ennis, and other relatives.
