B: Idabelle, Ok. D: Weatherford, Tx. Buried; 05/14/03. Preceded by wife, Maxine Flowers in 02/2001.

WEATHERFORD -- Don Flowers, 78, a loving grandfather, father and brother, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2003, to be with Maxine, his wife of 58 years. Don went in peace after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones, along with the loving staff of Peach Tree Care Center in Weatherford and Castle Peak Hospice.

Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Chapel. Burial: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Don Flowers was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Idabelle, Okla. Don belonged to the White Settlement Masonic Lodge #1372 for over 50 years and was known as "Dad" to many Demolay members. He was also a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #1053 for 45 years.

Don was an accomplished wood carver and artist and loved giving miniature landscapes to everyone, especially the staff at Peach Tree. He was a master carpenter and landscaper, owning his own lawn care business for over 35 years after being employed with Swift's Meat Packaging for 26 years until its final closing.

His gift to life was his joy to spread humor, his honesty, integrity and his will to go beyond what was expected of him to help someone in need.

Don will be greatly missed for his kindness and caring ways by all those who were blessed to know him. His passing is such a tremendous loss for the ones he leaves behind, but what a grand gift heaven receives.

Special thanks to Peach Tree Care Center for Alzheimer's in Weatherford and Castle Peak Hospice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, in February 2001.

Survivors: Daughter, LaDonna Williams and husband, Clint, of Springtown; son, Richard Flowers and wife, Loretta, of Tyler; brother, Buster Flowers and wife, Betty, of Fort Worth; sister, Francis Ingram of Casper, Wyo.; grandsons, Duane Flowers and wife, Stacy, of Fort Worth and T.J.
