At the home of the parents, near Ashville, Cambria county, at half past 10 o'clock on Saturday night, Mr. James A. Conrad died, after an illness of months, from lung trouble. His home was in this city, he being a boarder at the Franklin house, Seventeenth street, of which W.J. McFeely is the proprietor. He had made his home there after the death of his wife, which occurred some months ago. About eight weeks ago he went to the home of his parents on a visit, but became worse and unable to return to Altoona. He was 33 years of age, and at one time was an employee of the company in the freight shop. For several years he served acceptably as constable of the Seventh ward, this city. He was a genial, open hearted man and his friends were many. Mr. Conrad leaves two sons and one daughter. His parents also survive, as do seven brothers and two sisters. These lastter are: William, Andrew, Harry, Thomas, Lewis Conrad and Mrs. Mary Swinhart, of Clearfield township; Robert Conrad, of Dean township; Mrs. Ellen Strohmyer and Augustus Conrad, of Altoona. He was a member of branch No. 30, Emerald Beneficial association. The remains will be brought to Altoona on the 10.10 train Tuesday morning and conveyed to St. John's church, where requiem mass will be celebrated. Interment in St. John's cemetery.
