Merton A. Clarke, 59, collapsed in a field on his farm one-half mile west of Floyd about 6:00 o'clock last evening and passed away shortly after, having suffered a stroke. He was born and raised on the farm where he was fatally stricken.
Mr. Clarke was unmarried and made his home with his sister, Hepsie Clarke. Two brothers, also survive, William Clarke, Charles City and Perry Clarke, of Floyd.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Methodist church in Floyd, the Rev. George W McConkey officiating. Interment will be made in the Floyd cemetery.
