ETHELSVILLE Woodroe Barton, age 74, of Ethelsville, died Jan. 12, 2012, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. today, Jan. 14, 2012, at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William Barton and Charlie B. Barton.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Brazil Barton of Ethelsville, Ala.; sons, David Barton (Marty) of West Point, Miss., Joe Barton of Tupelo, Miss., and Tony Barton (Vicky) and Tommy Barton (Wendy), all of Ethelsville, Ala.; sister, Clarice Brown of Ethelsville, Ala.; brothers, Eugene Barton and Earnest Barton, both of Ethelsville, Ala.; and Alford Barton of Columbus, Miss.; five grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua (Dannica), Jordy, Justin, and Amber; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Barton was born July 31, 1937, in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Earnest Barton and Tessie Hester Barton. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a retired employee of Omnova Solutions in Columbus, Miss. Woodroe was a veteran of the United States National Guard and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.

Pallbearers will be Keith Ferguson, Jeff Matthews, Joseph Barton, Joshua Barton, Rodney Brazil, and James Dozier.
