Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home for Gordon Barnes, who died Saturday morning (Feb. 8, 1992) in Lincoln Skilled Care Center following a long illness. He was 77.
Wayne Barnes officiated and burial followed in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
A native of Lincoln County, the son of the late Arthur and Beulah Johnstone Barnes, he was an elder of the Howell Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a retired automobile salesman for Rambo Motor Company.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Duke Barnes; two daughters, Barbara Wright and Bonnie McCown; two sons Danny and Rickie Barnes; three stepdaughters Betty Duke Wilkerson, Nancy Duke Ruthledge and Lynda Duke Howard; a stepson Jackie Duke; two sisters Louise Meyer and Ernestine Ellzey, 11 grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
