Born in Hallettsville, Texas, and the son of a county judge, Fr. William Blakeslee, CSP, attended schools around the Austin, Texas, area. He entered the Paulists in 1918 and during his studies received both an STB and an MA from The Catholic University of America.

He was ordained a priest on June 12, 1925. After ordination he began his years of ministry in Texas, first as chaplain to the Newman Club at the University of Texas and than as pastor at St. Austin's parish.

In 1938 he joined the mission band in Winchester, Tennessee, moving the next year to Portland, Oregon. In 1943 he returned to Texas as pastor of St. Elizabeth's in Lubbock where he remained for nine years.

In 1952 Fr. Blakeslee rejoined the Paulist mission band, first in Oregon and then in Austin. In 1958 he began a two-year stint in Rome at Santa Susanna's, returning in 1960 to help staff the Information Centers in Mobile, Alabama and then in Chicago.

In 1971 he returned to Texas for the last time, as an assistant pastor at Christ the King Church in Dallas where he remained until his death in 1975.
