CHAMPAIGN — Christopher C. Starkey, 43, passed away at 3 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 14, 2012) at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. He was born Dec. 29, 1968, in Champaign, to Darrell and Susan Collins Starkey.
He is survived by his mother, Susan Starkey of Champaign; his maternal grandmother, Margaret Collins of Arthur; one brother, Gale (Christine) Starkey of St. Louis; one niece, Emily Starkey of St. Louis; one nephew, Michael Starkey of St. Louis; an uncle, Richard (Sara) Starkey of Sidney; and an aunt, Betty (Louis) Walthall of Urbana; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell, on Dec. 29, 2007; paternal grandparents, Richard and Amy Starkey; maternal grandmother, Mary Collins; and maternal grandfather, Charles Collins.
He was an art teacher for the Champaign Park District. Art was his passion and he wanted to share it with everyone. He shared his talents with the Champaign Park District and the Champaign School District. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Champaign.
His service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, with the Rev. Jeff Stahl officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the memorial home.
Inurnment will take place at the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
Memorials should be directed to the Champaign Park District or the American Cancer Society.
