Four Drown as Car Backs off Ferry Boat at Sandy Springs, OH
A boy's curiosity which led him to play with an automatic gearshift led to the drowning of four persons Tuesday afternoon at Sandy Springs. Two women, a man and a boy met death when the automobile thrown into reverse gear by the youth backed off the ferry V.S.S into the Ohio River after crossing to Sandy Springs from Vanceburg. Two occupants of the car escaped. All four bodies were recovered within two hours after the tragedy.
Mrs. Maggie Aldridge was one of the victims who met death Tuesday when the car in which she was riding backed from the Vanceburg Ferry boat, She was the wife of Paris Aldridge. Daughter of Alford and Trina Rilley Sparks.
