He enlisted in the Army on January 29, 1943 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in miscellaneous occupations and also as Single, without dependents. Evidently he was married after his enlistment.
Arthur was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
