OBITUARY Iron County Reporter Mar 15 1995 "Obituaries: Elmer Anderson"
IRON RIVER-Elmer I. Anderson, 85, of Beechwood, died March 11 at Dickinson Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 8, 1909 in Superior, WI, the son of the late William and Signe (Johnson) Anderson. He moved to the local area as a child and attended the former Rogers School in Bates Township. He first worked in the area woods as a logger for Art Lindahl and Harry Yeadon and then as a maintenance man at Camp Filbert Roth. He later was employed as a night watchman for the Iron County Road Commission, retiring in 1974. On Jan. 2, 1936 he married the former Angeline Perry and the couple made their home in the Beechwood area. She preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 1984. He was also preceded in death by a son John; a daughter Joan; a brother Glen Mattson; and two infant sisters.
He is survived by three sons, Jerome of Joliet, IL, William of St. Louis, MO and Robert of Moorehead, MN; three daughters, Eva Swallow of Waukegan, IL, Judy Carlson of Iron River and Ellen Anderson of Kenosha, WI; one brother Clarence Anderson of Hill City, KS; three sisters, Ingrid Mattson of Phoenix, AZ, Dorothy Morris of Soap Lake, WA and Ruth Swanson of Castro Valley, CA; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Langenberg Funeral Home in Iron River.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 14 at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Rucinski, pastor of the Faith Baptist Church in Crystal Falls, officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren John, Philip and Elliott Carlson and Lee, Angie and Julie Anderson.
Organist and vocalist will be Gail Dalpra.
Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Beechwood.
