A native of Jackson County, NC. He had lived most of his life in Buncombe County before moving to Hendersonville in 1996. He retired from B.F. Goodrich Tire and then was employed with Bell Tone Hearing Aid. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hendersonville and a former member and deacon of Westwood Baptist Church. He was a Navy Veteran serving in W.W.II and the Korean War.
He was a son of the late Houston and Rixie Ensley Ashe. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Geneva Smith, Lucille Evans and Irene Marsh
