Hattie (French) Coggon, 97, of Kittanning, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, in Armstrong County Health Center. She was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Kittanning, a daughter of the late Jennie (Jamieson) French, and was a lifelong resident of the area. Mrs. Coggon retired from Sears after 28 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kittanning, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women's Circle. Hattie also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Kittanning Chapter 277, and the Amaranth, and was a past volunteer at Armstrong County Health Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert T. Coggon, in 1982; brother, Eugene French; and sisters, Hazel Beckwith, Dora Zerr and Sylvia Pabst. Survivors include her daughter, Judith Smith and husband, Robert Gerald, of Worthington; her son, Herbert E. Coggon and wife, Pamela, of Kittanning; two granddaughters, Kimberly Doms and husband, Randy, of Worthington, and Susan Close and husband, Joseph, of Worthington; four great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Liam Doms, and Dominic and Emily Close, all of Worthington; a sister, Betty Jean Fisher, of Greensburg; and numerous nephews and nieces. Friends will be received from 12 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, in Kittanning. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Kittanning, with the Rev. A. David Meneely officiating. Interment in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
