Leona Marie Smith, 96, was born on June 4, 1926 in Flatwoods, Kentucky and passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on March 25, 2023.
In addition to her parents, Willard and Myrtle Chapman, she was preceded in death by her husband George C. Smith Jr., two brothers, Willard Chapman Jr, Carl Chapman, two sisters, Opal Stanley and Wilma Pelfrey.
Marie was a member of Advance Memorial United Methodist Church as well as a Russell High School Graduate. She enjoyed hobbies such as cooking for her church members, and family, as well as fishing, traveling, playing cards, but most of all spending quality time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her two sons, George Randall Smith and his wife Mary Jo, Gregory A. Smith and his wife Nancy, three; grandsons George Gregory Smith, Richard Flynn and James Flynn, as well as a host of loving family and friends that will miss her dearly.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 P.M., on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Advance Memorial United Methodist Church, Flatwoods, KY. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to service time at the church.
