Nancy Ann Phelps, 69, of Russell, passed away September 17, 2022 in the Ashland Community Hospice Care Center.

Ms. Phelps was born May 26, 1953, in Huntington, WV, to Doris Sparks and the late Hugh Sparks.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Phelps; one daughter, Angela Phelps; two brothers, Fred and Stephen Sparks.

Nancy was employed by First Federal Savings and Loans for many years. She loved life to the fullest but sitting out by her pool brought her the most joy. She was an avid UK athletics fan and she and her husband were season football ticket holders for many years. She held a membership at the Advance Memorial United Methodist Church and had a strong faith in God. Her grandkids brought her so much love and she looked forward to always being with them.

Along with her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Heather (Jake) Leibee; three grandchildren, Tessa, Brycen and Halei Leibee; one sister, Tena (Dusty) Haight; nieces and nephew; Lacey Kerr, Chris Haight and Mary Megan Sparks; great-nephew, Rowan Kerr; special sister-in-law, Tonya Evans; along with a close friend, Sharon Newman.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Community Hospice.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Carman Funeral Home.
