Geo. T. Demoss Dies Suddenly.
George T. Demoss, 69 years old, was stricken with cerebral hemorrhage at the home of Reason Baker about 9 o'clock last Friday morning and death resulted almost instantly. Mr. Demoss had been cutting weeds for W. J. Carty in the east part of town and shortly after returning to the home of Mr. Baker was stricken and fell on the walk that leads around the house. He had been using Mr. Baker's scythe and after returning it to the place where it was kept started around the house. Mrs. Baker, !who was sitting near a window on that side of the house, heard his groans and summoned E. M. Cadwell and Albert Brant, who were passing. Dr. Carson was called, who made an examination and pronounced the cause of death cerebral hemorrhage. Sheriff Neff notified the coroner, who said that an inquest would not be necessary.
Mr Domops was born in Hamilton Co., Indiana, Sept. 17, 1851, and had been a resident of Shelby county for the past 35 years. At the time of his death he was living with George Craigmyle in the Wm. McDowell house south of town. He had been in poor health for a number of years.
Deceased was never married. He was a member of the Christian church, having had his membership at Concord for a number of years, but, at the time of his death was a member of the Christian church of this city. The following brothers and sisters survive: Frank Demoss of Perkins, Okla., Will Demoss Stillwater, Okla.; Orren Demoss, Quincy Ill.; Douglass Demoss of near Palmyra; Bradford Demoss of Shelbina, Mrs Fred Caca of near Shelbyville and Mrs. John Wright of St. Joseph, Mo., and a number of other relatives.
