Carlton J. "CJ" Schaffer, 52, of 7062 Powder Valley Road, Zionsville, was stricken and died at home Friday. He was the husband of Thelma (Fischer) Schaffer. They were married 22 years in December.

He was a maintenance man for The Pillsbury Co., East Greenville, for the past six years. Before that, he was a self-employed roofing and siding contractor in Zionsville for many years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Melvin F. Sr. and Jennie (Erney) Schaffer.

He was a member of St. Peter's Union Church, Upper Milford Township.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors: Wife; daughters, Pamela at home, and Kimberly, wife of John Gerhart of Coopersburg; brothers, Melvin Jr. of Emmaus, and Richard of Coopersburg; sisters, Janice, wife of Robert Scholl, and LaMae, wife of Albert Charron, both of Emmaus, and Leona, wife of Arlan Heffner of Coopersburg, and a grandson.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Kulik-Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.
