Henry Kroon, 64, Dies Following Long Illness
Henry Kroon, 64, died at his home at 9:30 P.M. Sunday night. He had been confined to his bed for the past ten weeks.
A year and a half ago Mr. Kroon submitted to an operation on his stomach to remove a cancerous growth. Although he was in great pain much of the time he maintained a cheerful spirit; at all times, being greatly devoted to his home and family.
About a year ago the Henry Kroon family moved from the farm near Sioux Center to town, having lived in this vicinity for the past 34 years.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 13, 1942 at 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at the First Ref. church of which Mr. Kroon was an active member. Tallbearers included 4 sons, Wm. Neal, Gerrit, Rich, and 2 son-in-laws, Peter Punt and Henry Vander Berg.
Survivors include his widow, 4 sons, Cornelius of Rock Rapids, Gerrit of Rock Rapids, Dick of Middleburg, John Wm., at home, 8 daughters, Gert Mrs. Peter Punt) of Stickney S D., Tillie (Mrs Henry Vande Berg) of Sioux Center, Cornelia at home, Margaret (Mrs Manus Voortman) of Rock Valley, Bernice Arlone Grace, Clarine, Marilyn Mae, all at home.
Also surviving are 3 brothers, John of Sioux Center, Dick of Bruno, Minn., Bert of Perkins; 5 sisters, Mrs. John Oliver of Hull, Mrs. Gt. J Scholten of Steen, Minn., Mrs. Maas Korthals of Steen, Minn., Mrs. Gt. Kraayhof of Beaver Creek, Minn., and Mrs. John Van Ommen of Alvord, Ia.
