Ethel Morrison Van Derlip (1876-1921) was the daughter of financier Clinton Morrison and, in 1898, married John Russell Van Derlip (1860-1935,) a lawyer from New York who came to Minneapolis in 1881, was one of the founders of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, was a trustee of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and its president from 1928 to 1935, and left his collection of 229 objects and 1,112 books to the Institute. Ethel Van Derlip left an endowment to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
