Lula Shelton Nuckols, 81, of Crab Orchard, died Friday, Dec. 2 at the Fort Logan Hospital.
A native of Lincoln Co., she was born June 14, 1924 to the late John Reed and Lavinia Hopkins Shelton. She was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church, former co-owner of The Sweet Shop, and widow of Cecil Gilmer Nuckols, Sr.
was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lowry Nuckols; three sisters, Merlie Todd, Shirley Adams, and Elizabeth Englund; and four brothers, Joseph, Dudley, Morris and John Shelton, Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Nuckols Hale of Lancaster and Marlene Kay Nuckols Smith of Crab Orchard; one son, Cecil Gilmer (Linda) Nuckols, Jr. of Crab Orchard; five granddaughters, Rachel Hale (Grady) Drew, Jennifer Hale (Ray) Pevley, Stasi (John) Smith Swope, Brooke Smith Wrenn, and Mara Nuckols (Josh) Siler; one grandson, Bruce Daniel (Dana) Nuckols; great granddaughters, Kara and Brecken Wrenn and Jade Pevley; and great grandsons, Ethan Swope and Cadence Nuckols.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bros. Dan Gutenson and
Tony Shelton officiating. Burial was in Crab Orchard Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Bruce Nuckols, Raymond Pevley, John Swope, Josh Siler, Lonnie Smith, and Chris Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers were her nephews.
