George Hugh "Dunk" Allison, 91, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at his residence.
Born Nov. 4, 1915, in Campbell, Mo., son of the late Patrick Harmon and Blanche Yates Allison, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII, where he received the American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and two Overseas Bars. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Arbyrd and the Masonic Lodge, and also served on the Dunklin County Library Board.
On Oct. 21, 1937, in Arbyrd, he married Lucille Taylor, who preceded him in death on July 31, 1998. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Laurence Slim and Lloyd Pat Allison and three sisters, Norma DaVault, V. Jayne Selby and Lillian Arnold.
Survivors include one daughter, Kaye Lomax and husband, Carroll, of Hornersville, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, April 4, at the First Baptist Church in Arbyrd with the Rev. Allen Cureton officiating.
Burial was in the Lulu Cemetery at Senath, Mo.
Pallbearers were Gary Renfrow, Freddie and Erick Krapf, Larry Petty, Jesse Nance and Neal Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were the men's Sunday school class, Ron Branum, Dwayne Petty, Ken Sikes and Gene Renfrow.
