Dr. Braden Wayne Smith, age 62, passed away in the early hours of January 1, 2012. Born in 1949, Braden was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his brother, Edmond, by his parents Everett and Katherine Smith. After attending Will Rogers High School and receiving his B.A. from Oklahoma University, Braden received graduate degrees from University College Dublin and ultimately a Ph.D. from Jesus College of Oxford University. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Jane Finkel, and survived by his only son, Clancy Nathaniel Smith. Braden was a life-long scholar and rose to prominence working in the publishing industry for The Free Press and Simon and Schuster in New York City.
