JOHN W. ABEL
John Wesley Abel, 90, Brewton, Ala., formerly of Springfield, died at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday in McMillan Hospital in Brewton, Ala., after a three-months illness. He had lived in Brewton for about 10 years and was a retired superintendent of the Electric Meter Department in City Utilities here. Mr. Abel was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brewton where he was a ruling Elder. Survivors include his wife, Mary F.; a son, J. Howard, of Dallas, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Amy Holladay, Brewton, Ala.; and two grandchildren. The body will be returned to Springfield for services and burial under direction of Gorman-Scharpf-Abbott.

Gorman-Scharpf-Abbott is in charge of services. Mr. Abel, retired superintendent of the Springfield electric department, died Wednesday in Brewton. The family will be at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. today.
