Mrs A.D. (Verna) Miller, 70, died at the Municipal Hospital at 4 pm Tuesday after an extended illness.

She had been ill since the death of her husband, Arthur D. (Doug) Miller, who died on May 4 of this year. She had been in the Pugh Nursing Home until July 22, when she had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

When she was a child two years old, she came to Iowa with her parents, Rev and Mrs George Cornford, in a covered wagon. Her trip was just the reverse of the usual covered wagon trips, since they came from Kalispell, Mont. She has lived the last 55 years of her life at Clarinda. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church and of the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include her two sons, Harold, of Shenandoah, Leo, of Clarinda, and two sisters, Lola Miller, Ventura, Ia, and Bernice Bond, of Russell, Ia.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Walker Funeral Home at 2 pm Saturday, with the Dr J.D. Almes in charge. Soloist will be Norman Annan, and the organist Grace Perry. Casket bearers will be Sid Creveling, Russell Holt, Cecil Smith, Vard Lawson, Merle McCutcheon, and Walter Keener.

Burial will be at the side of her husband in the Clarinda Cemetery. CLARINDA HERALD-JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Aug 2, 1962
