Carter, who was a retired engineer, was born March 31, 1890, at Little Sioux La. He came to Colorado at the age of 12 and married Jennie Rippy at Silt, on April 16, 1917. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. in Silt.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Carter of Castle Rock and Ed Carter of Silt; one daughter, Mrs. Art (Marilyn) Stephenson of Eagle; three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Alice) Cowdn of Grass Valley, Calif.. Mrs. Lawrence (Ethel) Gant of Grand Junction and Veta Gardner of Half Moon Bay Calif., five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers John Carter of Clark, Nebr., and Lee Carter of Grand Junction.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Silt Baptist Church. with burial in Silt Cemetery. Pastor Ray Wing officiated.
