Richard Haas was born in Province Rhine, Germany 10/Oct/1873. The infant Richard came over with his parents and half-sister Amelia "Emily". They landed in Galveston around in 1873 (1900 US Census). Their destination was for Austin County Texas, in hopes of building a new life. Robert and Elizabeth had four more boys and two girls.
Richard later married Bertha Finke and they made their home in Washington County Texas where they had seven children. Three sons John 1902, Lony Fritz 1911, Louis 1912 and four girls, Dika 1904, Della Louise 1905, Josephine Ida 1907 and Rosa Marie Minna 1914.
