George H. Batker, 78, died Sunday in a Madison hospital. He was born in 1890 in Middleton Township and lived in the Verona area for 75 years, working as a farmer and a blacksmith. Mr. Batker was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Verona and the Blacksmiths, Welders and Metal Fabricators Association.

He is survived in Madison by son, James and a brother, Walter. Other survivors include his wife, the former Martha Kuehni; daughter, Donna, Greenfield; sisters, Mrs. Mae Guild, Verona; Mrs. Clarence Field, Madison and Mrs. Wilson Mutchler and Mrs. Leo Lacy, both of Madison; other brothers, John and Edward, Verona and a grandson.

Burial will be in the Verona Cemetery
