Betty J. (Talcott) Cravens, 78, of East Dean Street, South Bend, Ind., died after an illness at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, in Memorial Hospital.
Betty was born on Jan. 14, 1920, to Charles and Matilda (Kemnitzer) Fiedler, who both preceded her in death. Betty was married in 1941 in South Bend to Eugene Talcott, Sr., and then in 1990 she married Reuben Cravens. They also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela (Talcott) Winn of South Bend; and two sons, Eugene (Rocky) Talcott, Jr., of Plymouth, Ind., and Scott Talcott of South Bend; and by three grandchildren, Shannon Talcott of Columbus, Ohio, Aaron Talcott of Plymouth and Amanda Winn of South Bend.
Betty was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, South Bend, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Faith Circle. She was an avid bowler and a member of the South Bend Bowling Hall of Fame, and was a member of the Eastern Star. Betty also did volunteer work at Memorial Hospital, for Meals-on-Wheels and at the Battell Center.
Funeral services for Betty J. (Talcott) Cravens will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, with the Rev. Tom Blackford of the Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
