Pearl E Metcalf, 76, a resident of Dover Plains for 48 years, died March 20 at his home after a long illness. He had owned and operated a sawmill at Dover Furnace. Born in Providence, RI on Jan. 22, 1886, he was the son of Marcus L & Mary Metcalf. He came to Dover from Fairfield, Conn. He was married in 1905 to Miss Georgia Mills, who survives, as do two daughters, Mrs Myron Brown, Beacon; Mrs Mary Finlay, Dover Plains; two sons, George & Henry Metcalf, Dover Plains; sister Mrs. William Sherwood, Fairfield; 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.
