Billy M. Parrish, of Dothan died Friday, September 30, 2005, at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness. He was 77 years old.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today, October 3, 2005, at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Sam Brassell officiating and Byrd Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.

Mr. Parrish was born May 25, 1928, and raised in Dothan. He began his career in the restaurant business as a teen in his father's business at Jay's CafA~ of Dothan. He later opened his own restaurant in Dothan known as the Holiday Restaurant. A recognized member of the National Restaurateur Association, he later opened Billy's Steak Pit of Dothan. After many years in the restaurant business, he became a real estate broker. He established Billy's Realty Company and was a broker for more than 30 years. Mr. Parrish also co-founded the First Bank of Dothan where he served on the board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Lois Parrish, a brother, Hilton Parrish, and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Parrish.

Survivors include his wife, Sigrid Parrish; brother Jimmy Parrish and his wife Harriet Ann Parrish of Dothan; Daughter Zona Gayle Daniell and her husband John Daniell of White, Ga., daughter Carmie Davis and her husband Rufus Davis, III of Dothan, son Micah Parrish of Greensboro, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Aimee Coughlin, Jonathan Tedder, Amber Chentnik and her husband Matt, Josh Daniell, Chase Daniell, Brandon Parrish, Josh Parrish; three great-grandchildren, Sam Bryant, Timothy Tedder, and Emily Chentnik along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
