Michael Oberst, a Promient German
Citizen Passed Away Last Night.

The death of Michael Oberst occurred at 9:50 o'clock last night at his home, No. 710 Park street, from a complication of diseases. He was born in Unterabesheim, Baden, Germany, on June 1st, 1817, and emigrated to this country in 1848, and for a short time lived at Buffalo. Later in the same year he married Catherine Zoller and moved to this place. Mr. Oberst was one of the oldest German citizens, having lived here more than fifty years. He was also an old member of Salems Evangelical church.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Michel, and six grandchildren, Mrs. William D. Oertel, Mrs. William Eckel and R. J., George, Laura and Esther Michel, and three great grandchildren. The funeral will be held next Wednesday afternoon from the home and will be private. The remains can be viewed from 7 to 9 o'clock to-morrow evening and from 10 to 12 o'clock on Wednesday.
