Formerly of Harrison County, Kentucky, he was born in Trench, Kentucky, a son of the late William Jasper Roe and Mary Susan Horton Roe, and was a graduate of Eastern Teachers College and the University of Kentucky. He served as principal of Sunrise High School, in Sunrise, Kentucky, and was a teacher of science and history at Renaker High School, in Harrison County, and at Fork Union, prior to 15 years on the faculty of Hargrave Military Academy. Roe was a member of Chatham Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent.
Surviving are: his wife, Nora Sloas Roe, at home; a daughter, Mrs. David S. Henderson, of Vienna; two brothers, Guy Roe, of Goshen, Ohio, and Henry Roe, of Milford, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
