WW II US Army Air Force Veteran. Enlisted into the USA Air Corps in September 1939 and was as bombardier with the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was at Hickam Field, Hawaii during the Japanese raid on December 7, 1941. He was later assigned to the 26th Bomb Squadron, 5th Bomb Group in the South Pacific Theater. Out on a routine search mission, he and the crew of his B-17E Bomber happened across a portion of the task force off the northeast coast of Sewart Island on the morning of October 25, 1942. Being attacked by Japanese Zeros, he was killed when the Zero he was firing at exploded in front of the plane's nose gun. It was his first combat mission.
