JOHN "DALE" HOOTEN
Des Moines
John "Dale" Hooten, 81, of the 1700 block of East 22nd Street died of pneumonia Tuesday at Perry
Lutheran Home in Perry. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Park Funeral Home, with burial
at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hooten was born in Bussey and had lived in Des Moines since 1941. He was the retired owner and
operator of R & M Music Co. Inc., a Marine veteran of World War II and member of American Legion Post
274, Eastgate Masonic Lodge, Easton Place United Methodist Church, Easton Place Methodist Men and Easton
Place Bible Study. He enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys a son, Steve of West Des Moines a sister, Maye Hittle of Overland
Park, Kan. a brother, Donald of Ottumwa and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may
be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
