Obituary of Jacob Jarred -

J. JARRED DIES SUDDENLY - Last Thursday J Jarred, who lived four and one- half miles north of Altoona enjoyed his usual good health but during the day he decided to round up some hogs and put them in a certain pen. He exerted himself greatly in chasing the hogs, as shortly afterward he was taken ill and died at 10 o'clock that night, heart disease given as the cause of death.
Jacob Jarred was born in the state of Indiana, Feb 4 1859, died at age 58 years, 10 months, and 2 days. He was married to Elizabeth Dufrenne, Sep 25 1892. To this union was born 7 children, two of these children preceding their father to the great beyond. The five living are home with their mother and with her mourn the departure of a husband and father whose love and council they shall miss for many a year. Mr Jarred and family formerly lived in Kansas City, MO, but moved to Wilson County in 1906, which has been their home since that time. He was not a man to ask for the chief seat or any honors of men but was just an everyday man, dependable in all business matters, charitable in the judgment of others and a true friend in every respect. Many will lament his passing. Besides his own family he leaves to mourn his loss, 2 brothers and 1 sister, who could not get here for the funeral services, which were held from the Methodist Church, Saturday, Dec 8 at 2 p.m. , conducted by the pastor Rev. Creamer. The body was laid to rest in the Altoona Cemetery.
